Exhausted, but: mission accomplished
Been chasing the National podium for a year now. Started off just missing it, then rolled a car off a cliff, then an engine failure leading to a DNF. Was starting to think it couldn’t happen this year. LSPR wound up going in my favor though! We managed to put in a reliable drive through tricky conditions, and the team (mechanic pictured with me here) built a hell of a car. Tanked more than I thought possible. Here’s to next year!

Marquette Harbor Lighthouse
Fun fact: this originally wasn’t red! It got painted much later on. There’s another lighthouse 42 miles or so north; these two are seemingly the most remote lighthouses in the USA.

Overmountain Rally 2025
Not quite the return to rally that I wanted; DNF on the first full day of stages was no fun. At least we got to try out some new pace note techniques from OzRallyPro, and the event itself was a blast to see - very well run! On to Lake Superior next. Thanks to MeLe Media for the photo!

OBX Sunrise
Forced myself out of bed to catch the sunrise on the Outer Banks. Even with adjustments to the photo, it’s hard to capture how stunning the view was.

Peeking Sun
Forced myself out of bed to catch the sunrise. Did not disappoint.

Bodie Island Lighthouse
Caught this at sunset. The lighthouses on the Outer Banks are always stunning to see in person - such a cool bit of history.

My White Whale
When I’d visit here as a kid, the interior was always closed off to the public. In the last year or so they apparently finally opened up the base. Was cool to finally see inside! The Ocracoke Island lighthouse is the second oldest lighthouse in the country. Neat bit of history.

Jank Tiki
Stumbled on a weird tiki bar on a pier, tucked away on the backside of the beach. Was a useful stopping point on an otherwise long drive.

Down East
Had always been curious about this side of the Outer Banks, wound up with a reasonable excuse to come up from the southern side. Longer ferry ride over Ocracoke but some stunning views.

Forgotten Track
Was at a small track for a drifting event, spotted this long unused portion while cooling off. Wonder how many races this has seen?

Dirt for Spectators
I don't fully recall where this turn was, but I do remember smiling as we tore through it. Thanks to Mele Media for the photo!

Flying Lexus
Thanks to Mele Media for the photo! River City Rally builds a hell of a car.
